We are looking for an enthusiastic information specialist/librarian to
join the Clinical Evidence team at the BMJ. Clinical Evidence is a
compendium of the best available research findings on common and
important clinical questions, which is updated and expanded every 6
months.
Roles and responsibilities:
This role includes
Literature searching according to Clinical Evidence Procedures
Critical appraisal
Data checking
Liasing with Clinical Evidence authors and editors
Ordering photocopies
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:
a postgraduate qualification in library or information science
at least two years experience in a biomedical library or similar
environment
skilled in searching Medline, Embase, Cochrane and other databases
a keen interest in evidence-based medicine
be numerate, computer literate
familiarity with the medical literature is essential, as critical
appraisal is an important aspect of the role
Personal Qualities
The successful applicant will be a good communicator, be able to
prioritise and work accurately under pressure in order to keep up with
publishing deadlines. Clinical Evidence is an evolving product, so
flexibility within a team environment is important.
