INFORMATION STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION IN MANCHESTER
Project Manager - Libraries Strategy
c£30-£35k (Fixed Term for 4 years; full time in year 1 with review after 9
months)
We are looking for a qualified, chartered Librarian with either a degree or
a postgraduate diploma in Library and Information Studies and experience of
working in the NHS:-
* To initiate, develop and successfully implement a project to
co-ordinate and integrate library and information services across Manchester
health economy.
* To improve access to the knowledge base for health workers in both
primary and secondary care settings.
* To enable access to evidence-based resources beyond the confines of
a conventional library environment through the provision of full
connectivity to Internet, NHS Net, NeLH and Intranet.
* To develop highly skilled library staff experienced in training
others in the use of knowledge databases.
* To identify and unify funding streams to achieve these aims
This post will be one of five Project Managers who will be responsible for a
series of projects to initiate, develop and deliver the Manchester health
community's Local Information Strategy in line with Information for Health,
the national information strategy for the NHS. Two Assistant Project
Managers will give support on larger project areas. PRINCE 2 project
management methodology will be used but full training in these techniques
will be arranged. Advanced expertise in IT is not essential though
familiarity with the use of modern information communications technology
would be helpful.
