Christine
I use Book Data Premier CD and whilst I would agree with John Rule that it is expensive, I find it extremely useful (though there are quite a few spelling mistakes that creep in)- as we don't have a medical bookshop on the island I tend to be buying "blind" and find the detail that I get on Premier-CD useful in assessing whether to buy a book or not. I have looked at Amazon and Blackwells on the Internet but found A) they didn't always tell me if the the book was British or American which I like to know B)as my internet machine is in the library and rather slow it isn't always practical to use it when I want to.
The subscription for bi-monthly Premier CD is £1295 excluding VAT - however, I have always managed to negotiate a 10% discount every year. They are also quite flexible in payment terms and have let me pay in two halves when money was tight! They also produce a CD just for health I think, but I have found that I need the full version as I am asked for quite a lot of searches for book in print that are not necessarily strictly medicine. I think Whitakers Books in Print (not quite sure if that is what it is still called) is around the same price because my general bookseller uses that one and we've talked about the merits of both)
Hope this is of some help!
