APOLOGIES FOR CROSS POSTINGS
Forensic Mental Health
Law, Policy and Practice. Where to next?
A one day national conference at the University of Central Lancashire
Wednesday 22nd November
Conference Objectives
The National Service Framework, the review of mental health legislation, the
development of the NHS Quality Framework, the extension of the Race
Relations Act to public authorities and the imminent implementation of the
Human Rights Act present a dynamic and rapidly changing policy framework for
those involved in forensic mental health.
At the same time continuing concern about public safety, escalating
co-operation between criminal justice, health and social care agencies and
the rapidly increasing focus on professional regulation provides individual
practitioners as well as managers and policy makers with a series of
invigorating challenges.
The conference aims to:
- update delegates on aspects of the latest developments in law and
practice
- pose some fundamental questions
- provide an opportunity to share ideas across disciplines and agency
boundaries
Who should attend?
Members of police, prison and probation teams, social workers, members of
nursing, medicine and psychology teams, workers in hospitals and the
community in the public, private and voluntary sectors and all related HE
departments.
