>Merton College, Oxford 4-6th, April 2001
>http://www.psychiatry.ox.ac.uk/cebmh/merton2001/
>
>Evidence-based medicine provides a coherent approach to meeting the
>information needs of clinicians. Following a similar format to the four
>successful workshops at Merton College (1997-2000) this workshop will equip
>participants with the basic skills necessary to apply the principles of
>evidence-based medicine in psychiatry.
>
>The strategies covered will include: searching for and critically
>appraising evidence and using research findings in everyday clinical
>practice. The workshop will use a problem-based approach, involving both
>small group work and lectures. The workshop will demonstrate how
>evidence-based medicine can help in making clinical decisions concerning
>diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and harm. There will also be plenty of
>opportunity for informal discussion.
>
>Merton 2001 is primarily aimed at mental health professionals. However, we
>have previous participants from a number of backgrounds including
>librarians, health policy makers, social workers and medical students.
>Please contact us if you wish to discuss whether or not the workshop is
>suitable for you.
>
>WORKSHOP FEES:
>£675 (including lunch)
>£855 (including en-suite Merton College accommodation and all meals)
