Dear all,
Hi heres my report from the DHP meeting in April.
Membership of the division of health psychology:
380 Full members
472 Affiliates
39 Corresponding
16 processing applications.
Total: 907.
The stage 2 level qualification (after the Msc) is making progress. The
committee will be presenting details at the AGM at the conference in Kent
(Sept). The aim is to have the qualification up and running late 2000/early
2001.
Students are advised to work with/gain supervision from a chartered health
psychologist and keep records and logs of all work relevant to the
qualification.
Changes in ESRC funding was mentioned. This appears to be changing to
incorporate a year for training in research methods (taught Msc).
Discussions about the role of health psychology with regards to public
health, health promotion and health policy. This appears a good way to
promote health psychologist and what we do.
The registration fee for students attending the DHP conference in Kent,
Sept has dropped to £11 !! Bargain.
Don't forget that a number of bursaries are also available and that the
deadline for poster presentations is 31 May.
Thats all for now folks.
Any queries, commments, things you want to discuss please feel free...
Gwyneth
