These sites are maintained by Thomas Russell as a supplement to his book, "The No Significant Difference Phenomenon" and allow you to search his database of research summaries and references (mainly showing no significant difference - but with some exceptions on the Significant Difference site).
As you say, it's a very difficult question to research - with wandering goalposts. Good luck
