Liz Allen's query prompts me to draw attention to the 4 universities
research we carried out here in Scotland four years ago.
'Preparation and Support for Part-time Tachers in HE: Case studies of
departmental practice'
editors: Fred Forster and Sheila Thompson
contributors: Shirley Earl, Kate Morss and David Nicol
ISBN 1 901816 00 1
publshers: Centre for Teaching Learning & Assessment, U. of Edinburgh in
association with the Universities & Colleges Staff Development Agency
(UCoSDA)
What we did was to trawl Robert Gordon University (where I then was), Queen
Margaret University College, Strathclyde University and Edinbugh University
for case studies of good practice which seemed also to reflect a wide range
of part-time teaching roles, activities and situations.
The resulting publication contains an introduction on the approach & context
of the research, the case studies themselves and some common deduced
principles for good practice.
