I find it quite amusing that people seem to find it so difficult
unsubscribing (ahem leaving) this list. People seeking employment in GIS
today are expected to have amongst other things programming, scripting,
macro writing and data import/export skills, yet so many seem to
struggle with simple syntax. Perhaps we should add "the ability to read
instructions" and "be able to unsubscribe/leave a mailing list" to the
list of core skills required in our GIS job adverts!?
I think the leave/unsubscribe scenario would make a great interview
selection 'in tray' exercise for any junior GIS position!
As for sending an email telling people how to leave the list every time
someone gets it wrong, well its very kind but simply doubles the number
of emails. Perhaps we should leave people to stew until they figure it
out and simply remember the names for when we are selecting for job
interviews?
I fear I am going to get a few terse responses about this email, but
what the hell...as I have just deleted about 50 failed unsubscribes
after returning from my vacation a few more is neither here nor there.
