TENURE TRACK POSITION - ECONOMIC GEOLOGIST
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a Hydrothermal
Geochemist who has a primary interest in ore deposits. Within this general
field, research interests include (but are not limited to) fluid-flow
modelling, thermodynamic modelling, structural modelling, and
low-temperature geochemistry. This appointment will complement and enhance
the existing departmental strengths in economic geology, geochemistry,
hydrogeology, and analytical geology.
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences has an international
reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate
will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
The successful candidate will also be expected to enhance that reputation by
establishing an innovative, rigorous and externally funded research program
that will include the supervision of M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates and
interaction with other faculty members who are engaged in related research
programs. Field experience would be an asset.
The department is exceptionally well equipped; thus, the individual will
have ready access to a modern electron microprobe, scanning electron
microscope, and mass spectrometry laboratories. Detailed information on the

The appointment for this position will be at the Assistant Professor level.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of appointment, have a
proven research record, and demonstrate excellence in teaching. The
appointment will commence on July 1, 2000 provided that a suitable candidate
can be found.
