Excursion to the SKAERGAARD INTRUSION.
This is a one-off opportunity to visit this spectacular locality: the
world's most famous igneous body and central to theories of magmatic
evolution. Very few geologists have had the privilege to visit this very
isolated and beautiful area.
The excursion, based on a modern, comfortable ship (operated by the
well-regarded adventure travel firm Arcturus Expeditions), will take
place in the period 31th August to 12th September, 2001. Your guides will
be Kent Brooks (Copenhagen), Jens C. Andersen (Camborne, UK) and
Neil Irvine (Washington).
Participation is limited to 30 persons and the cost will be US$3400,
covering all travel from Iceland and living expenses. A deposit of US$ 1200
is requested on booking. Interest is expected to be high.
