Although this is a little bit out of track, I wonder if delafossite has
always been correctly distinguished from tenorite/paratenorite in the past,
when diagnoses were mainly based on optical properties. This does not mean
that one is completely safe with the SEM/EMP: tenorite looks there like
malachite if one is in a hurry. 'Always wise to check the visual colour of
the "malachite"! And malachite may be intergrown with tenorite and
delafossite. J.J.
