MINERAL RESOURCE EVALUATION INTO THE 21ST C
FRIDAY 31ST MARCH 2000
A one day meeting and dinner to mark the retirement of DR ALWYN
ANNELS from Cardiff University followed by a visit to the Dolaucothi
Gold Mine, Wales on SATURDAY 1ST APRIL 2000.

Conference:
This one day meeting will be hosted in the prestigious surroundings
of the National Museum and Galleries for Wales in Cardiff and
organized by the Department of Earth Sciences of Cardiff University.
Approximately ten invited speakers will cover aspects of mineral
resource evaluation. The meeting marks the retirement of Dr Alwyn
Annels from Cardiff University following 26 years of teaching,
research and consultancy in the field of resource evaluation. The
topics covered will be of direct relevance to all those involved in
mineral resource evaluation ranging from postgraduate students,
mining/mineral consultants, bankers and financiers and mining company
employees.
The aims of the meeting are to bring together those working in this
field within the UK and act as forum to discuss and develop new ideas
and partnerships.
The cost of attending the meeting has yet to be finalized, but is
likely to be about £25.00 including tea/coffee's and a buffet lunch.
Dinner:
On the evening of Friday 31st March 2000 a formal dinner will be held
in a Cardiff hotel. Cost will be dependent upon no of diners, though
is likely to be in the £25-35 range.
Field Excursion:
On Saturday 1st April 2000 Dr Annels will lead an excusrion to the
Cardiff University Dolaucothi field centre, mid-Wales. Visits will be
made to the Roman and 18/19th C workings showing characteristics of
the turbidite-hosted vein-gold mineralization.
Accommodation:
Delegates will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation
in Cardiff. An accommodation list can be provided on request.
