Hi Karen,
Just to let you know that I am keenly interested and am studying this area
for myself. I agree with you that given the present situation this
discussion becomes even more necessary. Religious identities in the country
have been in such a flux and so much has changed especially in the sense of
gender roles, Identities etc.
Looking forward to more discussions on this issue.

Subject: introduction
hello,
my name is karen gabriel and i've just joined the G-R list. i am
doing my doctoral work at the ISS (institute of Social Studies) at
the hague, holland. my work is not on theology, but on gender and
culture, specifically on commercial cinema in india. i am working
on gender, sexuality and/in the construction of identities and
subjectivities - individual, social and national. given the ways in
which religion and the construction of religious identities overlaps
and sometimes crucially determines the construction and
understanding of other identities, i am looking at religious
discourses as well. especially in the context of the recent devpts in
India this aspect becomes that much more significant and
influential. is there anybody who is working/interested/thinking
about this as well?
regards,
karen
