Thanks, Shan. That was long but interesting. The equivalent of our
temples, in other words, except that you "build" it case-by-case,
preferably but not necessarily using material objects, and then let
it disappear again, for obvious reasons. The rules related to
entering it are very inspiring.
I would probably have found it all quite weird if I had not read with
enormous enjoyment, some years ago, the "Earth's Children"
series by Jean Auel. As literature it may have its limitations (also
many merits), but its strongest claim for greatness, IMHO (in
addition to the way it brings prehistory to life, even if one realises it
is not archeologically accurate), is the living insight that it gives
into ancient religions. After your explanation, I am more and more
convinced that Jean Auel must be a Pagan herself - no way she
could have described those rites so richly and beautifully, if she
was not personally involved! How do you, and others who may have
read her, feel about her?
