To Shan and other list members.
congratulations on you new course Shan and your doctoral study is very
interesting. My name is Kim Power and I am a research fellow at Australian
Catholic University in the Institute for the Advancement of Research. I am one
of three working on a Project for the Study of Women's History, Theology and
Spirituality. Our first national project is a study of Catholicism and women's
suffrage. I am also working in co-operation with the Centre for early Christian
studies on an international Mariology project lead by a Finnish researcher by
name of Leena Mari Imari. My own field is constructions of sex and gender in
early Christianity and how they shape social relations, church structures, power
and spirituality. I also work in feminist theology and have done some work on
medieval women thinkers and a medieval text on male-female relationships. I have
published a book on Augustine and women and my doctoral work was on symbols for
the virgin Bride in Ambrose of Milan, focusing on the enclosed garden as
corporeal and corporate symbol.
I am located on the Melbourne campus and my husband and I live in Richmond, Vic.
Paul is an organizational psychologist. My family are grown, four are married,
one single and I have 1 grandchild and a brand new kitten named Eve.
That's probably enough about me, but wouldn't it be great if we could set up
some on-line seminars with scholars from around the world? Regards,
