Since I was the one who sent the original post, allow me to answer it.
If you read the first post, you will remember that I said that the man is a
feminist. As I mentioned in my first post, the man in question has
established his credentials and his reputation in the field of religious
studies. He teaches in a Canadian university.
I contacted him and asked if he would like to participate and he asked me to
keep him out of it because such discussions seem to feed on anger and
generate only more anger, especially among people unwilling to let go of
deeply held beliefs. (I'm sorry, but i forgot to ask him the exact date and
place of the incident. It happened at a religious studies conference.)
Quite frankly, I can understand why he wishes to stay out of this,
considering the tone of "cp" s post.
I am not hiding behind a pseudonym myself. You are welcome to check my
credentials, the ones i gave in my self-introduction, and which accord with
my university-based e-mail address.
Peace,
Silke Force
