Dear all
DfEE have produced a consultation document proposing various changes to
Modern Apprenticeships. I am preparing a draft response on behalf of the
cultural heritage sector and would greatly appreciate feedback from
employers in the sector to include in this response. This is an ideal
opportunity for us to be able to influence the content of Modern
Apprenticeships to meet the needs of both employers and young people.
The deadline for feedback will be Friday 1st September 2000.
Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) have been developed by industry throught NTOs
as a way of training young people (aged 16-24) to work effectively in their
early careers. Modern Apprentices are employed by organisations and
undertake both on and off-the-job training throughout their apprenticeship,
possibly including attendance at college on a day release basis. The
Museums galleries and heritage framework leads to achievement of Level 3 or
Level 4 NVQ and Key Skills in Application of Number, Information Technology
and Personal Skills - Improving own learning and performance. We are due to
review our framework once guidelines are issued (following the
consultation).
If anyone would like to take part in this response, please contact myself
for further information.
Thank you.
