Dears colleagues
First of all, please excuse me for the Cross Posting.
My name is Vitor Matias. I'm a Ph.D student in educational psychology and a
research project co-ordinator.
For now quite a while, I've been following with great interest and curiosity
the different issues that are debated on this (theses) list(s), but with a
particular interest for the themes concerning high school teachers. To this
matter, I believe we are privileged to have access to such a great diversity
of points of view, topics, and countries represented.
I would like to invite you to share with me and the all community some
research data concerning high school teachers and their visit habits with
theirs student:
- What is the proportion of high school teachers that visit the museums with
their students?
- What do they think of museums as learning environments?
- and what is their conception of the educational role of museums?
- What kind of activities do they prefer and what are the king of goals
they establish?
Also,
- Do teachers have special expectations wen they came to museums with their
students?
or
- What do they think of the schools-museums partnership?
- Do they see a Interest for the development of a partnership between
museums and high schools
- Are there factors that facilitate or make more difficult this
partnership?
I know these are very complex and broad questions, so I don't expect very
specific well-defined answers.
But if you know any reseach or recent (10 years) survey that covered some of
this topics, Me and my team really appreciate if you could share with us
that information. You may also forward this message to your colleagues.
here in Montreal, we just finish a study concerning school-museum
partnership and the professional relationship that teachers develop with
museums.
(For those interested I can send an English abstract of the research but the
research report is presently being written -in French-)
-280 teachers from Montreal and the Quebec province answer hour
questionnaire. We would like to compare our results with those from
France, England, The United States, Australia, South-Africa, Italy, Spain,
and more if possible.
But this information is very difficult to obtain since the majority of our
sources are unpublished reports or reports of limited access.
This is why à make this public request for research data concerning
secondary school teachers (from all domains) and the school museum
partnership: articles, research repports, intern repports... name it.
Once again, do not hesitate to forward this e-mail to your colleagues that
are not subscribed to this server list but that could be interested in these
data
Thanks in advance,
Sincerly yours
Vitor Matias
