Paul,

Why do you ask - are you doing a general survey or do you have a specific
need? I use Abaqus in support of my undergraduate courses in solid
mechanics and so I run graded practical sessions throughout the teaching
year. I also run a short intensive course for new staff and postgrads in
October. These courses cover only the basics, eg modelling of skeletal
structures, writing and editing .inp files, the logistics of running
Abaqus, results interpretation and error diagnosis and a *very* brief look
at continuum elements and graphical interfaces. Final-year classes get
more advanced problems (eg forging simulation) and project students get
individual support. The courses are non-commercial and timetabled to suit
our students. However I'm happy to pass on our experience and if you're
thinking in terms of the odd postgrad (aren't they all?) who needs a
start-up, I'm sure we could come to an arrangement.

Regards,

Ron Thomson.
