Dear Feusers,
I am look for a simple 2D and 3D frame analysis package for project work of
undegraduate civil structural engineering students, which satisfies as much
as possible of the following specifications:
1. it would be nice if it's a shareware of freeware; every year I'm now
being asked by more and more students if they can run structural analysis
packages from their home PCs and many high-end software packages charge for
this which is what I'd like to avoid our UG students do;
2. the software should have 2D plane frame and 3D grillage and space frame
capabilites;
3. graphical output from software should be easy, preferably in the form of
smaller vector (and not larger bitmap) files;
4. documentation for software should be good and available on-line or from a
help menu, so that library does not have to deal with our documentation;
5. the software sould be downloadable from a web site (we can set up such a
site if required), so that we are not involved in handing out CD with its
copies
6. linear dynamic option (modal analysis and mode superposition) would be
nice, but is not essenial.
7. software support should be good.
I hope this is not too much to ask and would like to hear your advice as to
the possible ways forward.
Thanks you.
