Hi All,
There has been a change in the contractual arrangement
for management of the UK academic community mailing list service.
The service previously provided by Mailbase at
Newcastle will in future be provided by Rutherford Appleton
Laboratories based at Didcot Oxfordshire. This transistion
affects econ-lets as well as the many other lists provided
as part of this service. The decision to effect this change
was made some time ago by the service funding
agency, JISC ( http://www.jisc.ac.uk/ ).
>
The transition will take effect in 2 weeks time, as from the
27th November. Some interruption in normal list service is
expected during the weekend of the 25/26th November.
>
Following this transition the Mailbase name will no longer
be used as the primary means for accessing the relocated
lists, though web requests and emails sent to the old mailbase
addresses will be forwarded for some time after the transition.
>
If any of your leaflets or publicity mentions
[log in to unmask] please remember to update mail
address, URL and subscription and unsubscription mail
command details etc. when these materials can next be
revised. It is recognised that many web pages refer to URLs
of articles archived on Mailbase and access to these articles
will continue to be maintained
The new address would be [log in to unmask]
>
I hope and expect that ethnography-in--education members will bear with us
through this transition and will want to join me in wishing
Jiscmail, the new service providers, every success in carrying
out this job, and in thanking Mailbase staff past and present for
all the great work they have done in providing a superb technical
support service.
We will be sending further details about syntax changes later but to send
messages to the list simply change the address to
[log in to unmask]
User commands e.g. for subscription and unsubscription should be sent
to [log in to unmask] .
The JISCmail helpline can the reached at [log in to unmask]

The service will be based upon the well known LISTSERV
software. This will result in some changes to the user interface.
Details of the differences and the transition arrangements are
available on the JISCmail web site at:
