These replies are quite amusing, (sorry mcD's fans).
So the way to solve all the worlds problems is
eliminate mcdonalds, clothes, and the all important
high heels. Wow I never knew solving market problems
were that simple. How amusing, next we eliminate
shelter and any other human need, and we solve
all our problems. (wow how simple).
Any takers on me suggesting perhaps the problem
maybe, use and source, methodology, and approach of makin
all these products?
Applying value ethic to McDonalds, I see
the fat free soy fries, and veggie burger,
and for the meat eaters the range raised organic
cow. Bottom line? Would mcd's make more money,
gain more customers, by being ethical?

example. As a guy they are worthless to me since I don't wear them. Is it
correct for me to then conclude that they are worthless for everyone? How
about gynocologists? There is little to no chance I will ever need
one...worthless? Some how I doubt it...but hey my mind is open...if you
want to do away with them fine by me. What about dresses? Hey, lets get
rid of all differnt styles of clothing. After all the differences in style
serve no utilitarian purpose so deem them worthless and get rid of them. We
can all wear natural cotton or hemp overalls with no dye. If we get to
depressed about the lack of style we can then smoke them. <g>

Emma replies:
"I have picked on fashion as a particular 'offender' as there are few
so-called 'environmental alternatives' beyond sourcing your own material and
making your own clothes.
We saw a return of real fur in the industry this year...with those models
who had campaigned for it to be banned, modelling the latest 'numbers'!
Apparently, being green and right-on for them had gone out of fashion again.
The industry promotes continual change and continual resource use through
its 'seasonal collections'. How many parents on the list have had to buy the
latest trainers for their kids? What about the pressure on the not so slim
or not so atttractive children? Fashion isn't about accepting one another or
accepting differences - its about conforming to fads.
Enough.
