Regarding consolidation prediction models and programs for slurries I used a
comprehensive program when I was working for AMEC Earth & Environmental
(formerly AGRA Earth & Environmental). It was based on the finite strain
consolidation (Gibson et al. 1967). This program is a Windows based program,
which is very useful for mining tailings pond applications. The program is
flexible in the material properties input as well as the filling rate and
boundary conditions. The user can easily input parameters to fit it to
laboratory data. I highly recommend checking this program out since I found it
