Dear colleagues,
I'm investigating the implications and practicalities of the use of
word processors in examinations.
I would be really interested to hear about peoples expericences in
establishing provision in this area, the pitfals, what works well,
costing implications and anything you feel it would be useful for me
to consider.
Currently at Oxford arrangements are organised on an individual
basis in co-ordination with the Proctors and the specific college.
I am very keen to ascertain what other HEI do by way of providing
word processing facilities for examinations.
Do institutions have special rooms set up where students who
need to use word processors can attend to sit examinations.
Are computers hired for the purpose or are existing inhouse
computing services used. Can anyone recommend any computer
hire companies.
What are the practical issues when considering word processor for
dyslexic students. What is required on the PC by way of
applications. Would spell check, grammer check, word, and
windows be considered standard facilities. Are there any other
suggestions.
Any advice and ideas would be much appreciated.
with best wishes
Deborah
