GLOBALIZATION AND SECURITY
The first joint meeting of the International Security and Arms Control
Section of APSA and the International Security Studies Section of ISA will
be held in Denver, November 9-11, 2000.
Conference theme is Globalization and Security. Papers and panels most
welcome on:

Understanding Security in a Globalizing World: Realism? Constructivism?
Critical Theory?
Enforcing Global Standards: Humanitarian Intervention
The Revolution in Military Affairs
Emerging Issues: Mercenary Armies, Transnational Crime, Cyber-terrorism
The Defense Industry in a Global Economy
National Missile Defense and other Arms Control Challenges
European Integration and International Security
Economics and Security in East Asia
The Changing Domestic Politics of Security Policy

The U.S. Election: Prospects for Foreign and National Security Policy
Local hosts for the meeting are the Graduate School of International
Studies, University of Denver, and the Denver Council on Foreign
Relations. Conference Co-Directors are David Goldfischer and Paul Viotti.
Paul Kan is assisting them as Coordinator for Program Development.
Early birds responding to this first call by JULY 15, 2000 are in the
best position to assure a place on the program. Send all paper proposals
(include your name, institutional affiliation, working title, and a short
paragraph summarizing the paper or panel) and all panel proposals
(include names of participants, institutional affiliations, working

$95 registration fee ($65 graduate students) payable by check includes
reception at Loews Giorgio Hotel Thursday evening, November 9th as well
as speaker events at lunch ( the Denver Country Club) and dinner (Adams
Mark Hotel ) on November 10th. Special rate of $93 single or double
(about half the normal rate for a limited time only) at Loews Giorgio, a
four-star Hotel--the only hotel in Denver qualifying for American Express
