Opinion is sought concerning the following scenario.
A school holds details of students' home addresses and emergency telephone
numbers on the school's computer based records system. One of the purposes
of this data is for use in emergencies if the home has to be contacted. To
improve the way in which emergencies can be handled it is thought better
to give each form tutor a printout of this data for each student in their
class rather. Currently tutors have to go to a central computer terminal
to obtain such data for a particular student as and when required.
Is the proposed operational change OK under data protection legislation?
I look forward to your views.
