British Academy/Royal Society Symposium
IMAGES AND ARTEFACTS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD
Wednesday 6 December and Thursday 7 December 2000
Venue: Royal Society, 6 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5AG
This multidisciplinary discussion meeting will look at how new computer
imaging techniques are helping us to interpret and preserve the ancient
world, from 16th Century BC to 4th Century AD, before time takes its toll.
Speakers will investigate the latest computer imaging techniques, such as
three-dimensional microscopy, time-of-flight laser analysis and human
binocular stereovision and examine how such techniques can offer further
insight into inscribed documents and other 3-dimensional artefacts such as
pottery, sculpture and architectural structures.
The event takes place at the Royal Society, 6 Carlton House Terrace, London
SW1. Attendance to the symposium is free, and all those interested are
welcome to attend, but it is essential to register in advance.
