The Olympics (What Else?)
M/C Reviews invites submissions for its special feature issue on the
topic of the Olympic Games.
Whether you're an Olympic fan or an Olympic cynic, the upcoming Games in
Sydney offer a unique opportunity for observers and analysts. The
international media team in Sydney outnumbers the athletes, and those with
broadcast rights are promising wall to wall cover. You might even be going
to an Olympic event yourself. Here at M/C Reviews, we want to hear your
opinions, comments, and views about the Antipodean odyssey about to unfold.
>From the torch relay to the ABC's satire The Games, there are no limits to
what you can cover -- the representation of gender, the commodification of
the body, or the euphoric highs of inspirational narratives. Just as long
as it is linked to the Olympic theme of this feature section.
So get those fingers flying -- faster, higher and stronger -- and send us
your thoughts -- from 750 to 1500 words. (All reviews will be tested for
performance enhancing drugs.)
M/C Reviews is a companion piece to the M/C journal itself, a cross-over
journal between the popular and the academic. To find out more about M/C
and M/C Reviews please visit our site at <http://www.api-network.com/mc/>.
The various sections are designed to encourage reviews of as many genres as
possible, from new media, to the more traditional. So if you have a
favourite Olympic website, or want to discuss a film with an Olympic theme,
here is your chance to share your ideas with us.
Submission deadline: 28 September (We know, the Games will still be on --
but drag yourself away from the live and sweaty for a few moments to
reconnect with your keyboard...) Please include a brief bio.
Please refer to the contributors' guidelines at
