RESEARCH ASSISTANT X 2
SYSTEMS ENGINEERING FOR COMPLEX SYSTEMS
CENTRE FOR HUMAN COMPUTER INTERACTION DESIGN,
CITY UNIVERSITY LONDON
18,420 to 21,049 pa inclusive (pay award pending)
Fixed term for 36 months
EPSRC's Systems Integration Initiative (SII) is funding 2 posts at City
University that are part of the 750,000 SIMP 'Systems Integration for
Major Projects' project. The initiative supports large- scale research
projects that will advance the UK's large-scale systems integration
capabilities. Research in SIMP will develop new processes and capabilities
that will enable SIMP to determine system requirements and use them to
evaluate and implement design trade-offs and handle risks and
uncertainties associated with such trade-offs. It will investigate whether
a computational scenario-driven technique for assessing different system
configurations for compliance with system performance requirements will
provide BAE Systems managers with relevant, timely information needed to
make system trade-off analyses. The proposed method and software
prototypes will be evaluated in industrial applications from BAE systems
to answer this question.
The first post (Post1) requires academic and/or industrial experience in
systems modelling, requirements engineering and/or architecture design.
The second post (Post2) requires software design, implementation and
testing experience with one or more from VB6, C++, Java and Delphi. Both
posts require excellent presentation skills, management skills and
interest in applying leading-edge research to real-world problems.
Candidates should have a good first degree in computer science, software
engineering or another subject in which systems modelling is important. A
post-graduate or higher degree in one or more of these subjects is
preferable. Ref: HCID/14/J
