CENTRE FOR INNOVATIVE CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING (CICE)

DOCTORAL RESEARCH STUDENTS (4 POSTS)

Four doctoral research students are required to join a vibrant research
team under the supervision of Dr Chimay Anumba, to work on a major
industry-sponsored research project at the Centre for Innovative
Construction Engineering (CICE). The project is concerned with aspects of
E-Commerce and Web-based Collaboration in Construction.

Two posts (A & B) will involve the development of prototype Web-based
applications for E-commerce and collaborative working. This requires
excellent IT skills, particularly knowledge of databases, Web-based
systems, programming (C++, Java), knowledge-based systems, etc.

Two posts (C & D) will involve the deployment and evaluation of Web-based
and E-Commerce applications in construction sector organisations. A high
level of computer literacy is required, as well as good knowledge of the
construction industry.

Applicants for the above posts should possess a very good (1st Class or 2nd
Class Upper) degree or an MSc in a Construction or Computer Science
discipline, and should be highly motivated. Successful applicants will work
closely with the industrial sponsor and will be required to register for a
doctoral degree (either a 3-year Doctor of Philosophy, PhD, OR a 4-year
Doctor of Engineering, EngD).

An enhanced studentship allowance of up to £10,000 (ten thousand pounds
sterling) per annum is payable. Academic fees will be paid at either 'home'
or 'overseas' rate.
