LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN CRIMINOLOGY

The new Faculty of Media, Arts and Society incorporates the Schools of
Media and Visual Arts, and Human Sciences and Communication. The latter
includes undergraduate courses from Advertising to Psychology to Social
Sciences and a postgraduate portfolio including a Masters course in Health
Education and Health Promotion. The Chartered Institute of Housing and
British Psychological Society accredit a number of courses.
An energetic and enthusiastic individual, with a degree in Criminology or
related area, you will contribute to the continued success of the expanding
Criminology programme group. You will join a friendly and committed team
whose teaching and research interests include crime survey methodology,
criminal justice practice, drugs policy, media crime and justice, policing
and public order studies and youth justice. A key requirement is the
ability to teach qualitative research methods and methodologies. You will
also be expected to contribute to the BA(Hons) in Criminology in areas such
as Equal Opportunities in Criminal Justice and Victimology.
You will be able to demonstrate good communication and teaching skills
together with administrative capabilities. A highly motivated team player,
you will be able to show evidence of commitment to research and scholarly
activity in the field of Criminology. One or more of the following would be
highly desirable: a Ph.D., a proven record of research and publication in
one of the above-mentioned areas of specialism, higher degree supervision,
course development and management experience.
