OOPS-138: Java(TM) and Databases: Persistence Options
Akmal Chaudhri, City University
There are a number of alternative options for managing objects using
Java(TM) and a database. These include JDBC(TM), SQLJ and interfaces
supported by the
OODB vendors.
This presentation will compare and contrast these various approaches. The
presentation will also provide a demonstration of how to build an
application using
Java and the Jasmine Object Database. A small application will be built
and the various steps needed to get a working application will be
described.
Akmal Chaudhri has been working in the area of Object Databases for many
years. He has been a regular presenter at a number of international
conferences,
such as OOPSLA and Object World. He has also co-edited the book "Object
Databases in Practice", published by Prentice-Hall.
Venue: IBM Centre South Bank, 76 Upper Ground, London SE1, next to the
National Theatre and The London Television Centre.
