SAICSIT-2000 1-3 November 2000
==============================
Annual Conference of the South African Institute of Computer Scientists and
Information Technologists
Computer Science and Information Systems in South Africa in the new millennium.
100 papers from 20 countries were submitted to SAICSIT'99. SAICSIT-2000, to
be held in the Cape Town area, will be even bigger and better.
Exciting guest speakers include:
* Eric Raymond, President of the Open Software Initiative
* Mark Shuttleworth, CEO of Thawte Digital Certificate
Services, sold for $575-million to VeriSign, a local
success story
* Doug Schuler, leading authority on community networks
Papers will be published in three categories:
* full research papers, in a special issue of the South African
Computer Journal
* short papers, also in the South African Computer Journal
* electronically published papers, available via the conference
web site
The latter two categories are intended to allow space for preliminary work,
or useful experiences, which are of sufficient interest to publish, but
which would not meet the criteria for review of a research paper.
Full research papers are limited to 10 pages in final typeset form, while
short papers are limited to 5 pages (10 point Times, 2 columns: see South
African Computer Journal web page below). Length is not an issue for
electronically published papers.
Papers can be submitted in one of the three categories, but may be
transferred to a different category at the Programme Committee's discretion.
Papers are solicited in all areas of Computer Science and Information
Systems, but should be directed at a reasonably general audience. For
examples, see papers accepted for SAICSIT'99 (see link on the SAICSIT-2000
web site).
All papers should be electronically submitted unless special arrangements
are made for paper submission. Details will appear on the conference web
site.
Submission of a paper implies a commitment, should the paper be accepted,
to attend the conference and present the paper. You will be advised of
acceptance in time to book before the early booking discount ends.
