Call for Extended Abstracts
AI AND CREATIVITY IN ARTS AND SCIENCE
A symposium as part of AISB'01, the 2001 Convention of the Society for the
Study of Artificial Intelligence and the Simulation of Behaviour
21st - 24th March 2001, University of York, England
Extended abstract submissions are invited for the AISB'01 Symposium on AI
and Creativity in Arts and Science.
Following on from the successful AISB'99 Convention, whose theme was the
study of creativity in AI and Cognitive Science, and the AISB'00 symposium
on AI and Creativity, this symposium aims to bring together AI researchers
interested in all aspects of creative activity. The aim of holding one
unified meeting, instead of several simultaneous smaller ones, is to
promote communication between those studying different aspects of
creativity. The symposium will welcome submissions from researchers and
practitioners in any of the following fields, though this list is by no
means exclusive:
Cognitive Musicology & Intelligent Sounds and Music Systems
Computer-Based Visual Art
Creative Language, especially humour and stories
Scientific Creativity
Methodologies for study and/or simulation of creative behaviour
Art works of all kinds whose creation involves computational creativity
Accepted abstracts will exhibit a high standard of presentation, and will
report on original, previously unpublished work. Only papers with genuine
scientific content will be accepted; reports on artistic work should be
include a clear statement of the scientific contribution of the abstract.
Authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to supply full papers for
inclusion in a pre-proceedings published by AISB. The Symposium is expected
to take place over the two of the three days of the Convention.
SUBMISSIONS
Papers will be selected by blind anonymous peer review of extended
abstracts of between two and four A4 pages (or 8.5in by 11in pages),
including figure captions and foot/endnotes, but excluding title etc.,
bibliography, acknowledgments and the graphical bodies of figures. A
separate cover page initial section should be supplied listing the paper
title and the authors' names and affiliations, but the remainder of the
document should NOT specify the authors or affiliations. Be especially
careful that names and addresses are not included at the end of an email
submission. To the extent possible, the body of the abstract should be
written in such a way that the authors and affiliations cannot readily be
identified from the content or citations.
Submissions should be sent to the Programme Chair, by email to
[log in to unmask] . Submissions should be in one of the following forms:
ASCII text; Unix-compatible PostScript; Portable Document Format (PDF).
Submissions in other formats will not be read.
