Conference Aims and Objectives

The National Service Framework, the review of mental health legislation, the
development of the N.H.S Quality framework, the extension of the Race
Relations Act to public authorities and the imminent implementation of the
Human Rights Act present a dynamic and rapidly changing policy framework for
those involved in forensic mental health.

At the same time continuing concern about public safety, escalating
co-operation between criminal justice and health & social care agencies and
the rapidly increasing focus on professional regulation provides individual
practitioners as well as managers and policy makers with a series of
invigorating challenges.

This conference aims to update delegates on aspects of the latest
developments in law and practice, pose some fundamental questions and
provide an opportunity to share ideas across disciplines and agency
boundaries.
