National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) Conference Saturday
July 8th 2000
University of Durham, Stockton Campus
Call For Papers
Proposals for papers, presentations and workshops are invited for the
first NAWE conference of the new century. The conference will focus on
writing in and as lifelong learning, and proposals are sought which
explore these two government and education buzzwords and their impact on
writers working in education.
What does lifelong learning mean for writers, and how can writers play a
part in creating a learning culture? In what ways have writers been used
in formal and informal education? What progress has been made from the
days of liberal adult education which often pioneered creative writing -
and what’s been lost? How can writing in education play a part in
reaching out to non-learners? These are just some of the questions that
may be raised - but we are very open to others, and to presentations of
specific writing and lifelong learning initiatives.
The conference will take place at the University of Durham’s Stockton
Campus.
Please send proposals of up to 200 words to Mark Robinson, Programme
Director, Arts & Humanities, Centre for Lifelong Learning, 32 Old Elvet,
Durham, DH1 3HN or e-mail them to: [log in to unmask] Deadline:
