Announcing - A one day Conference 31 Oct 2000, London.
INFORMATION SOURCES in COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE
A conference organised by the British Library
and the Foundation for Integrated Medicine
Increasing numbers of people are turning to complementary medicine to
augment traditional medical care and conventional treatment plans.
Many want health care providers who will see them as whole persons,
recognising that spiritual and psychological wellbeing can play an
important role in `being well' or in healing. Others turn to
complementary medicine to enhance the quality of their lives or to
prevent health problems from arising.
This trend raises significant issues, not least in terms of
information provision and validation. If you are a practitioner or an
information provider in the health care field how do you find out
about treatments outside the realm of allopathic medicine? And,
perhaps more importantly, how do you evaluate the quality of the
information that is available so that you can provide reliable advice.
This conference offers delegates in the UK a unique opportunity to
address these issues. Organised jointly by the British Library and the
Foundation for Integrated Medicine this is the first event of its kind
in this country.
The conference is designed to alert delegates to the range of
information sources available and to consider quality issues involved
in assessing them.
