One of the criticisms I had was that the tuning analysis sections appeared to have had little benefit from the years between the 1st and 2nd edition. Not to mention the poor-mouthing of f90 and the lack of constructive suggestions there. No doubt we could get together and write something web published, and have more advantage of our latest experience than may now be found in the literature.

Thanks for the reference. The book seems nice, but its kind of
simplistic. I was
interested in optimization of memory references for cache reuse and
such, and
although the discussion was very nice, it was only about some simple
regular-loop examples.
Are there any more comprehensive texts of similar nature you know of?
I've seen
some computer science books, but these don't seem to be meant for the
scientific
programmer.
