If your platform is intel, then the most complete one is probably
Pacific Sierra's compiler which compliles via translation to f77 and
uses the free gnu g77 compiler - see http://www.psrv.com/
If you're lucky enough to be using an alpha, Compaq's compiler is free
for many users: http://www.compaq.com/fortran/
Otherwise there is the subset F compiler which is f90-like, without
the f77-like stuff - http://www.imagine1.com/
There is also the embryonic gnu g95 compiler,
(http://g95.sourceforge.net/) which isn't ready yet, but is worth
keeping an eye on, as is SGI's compiler which they have recently
open-sourced, though it too is not ready for intel (unless you happen
to have a pre-production ia64 system) -
