But you are not free to use the code. As I understand the licence, you
have to purchase it, and you are not allowed to distribute source code
that uses it.
Having said this, the NR books are a very good introduction to numerical
algorithms for people whose main expertise is not numerical mathematics.
Some disputable points come up every now and then, but show me a text
book where this isn't the case. They contain straight-forward, easy to
read and understand implementations of standard algorithms. If your main
concern is performance or robustness, or if you want to be free to
distribute your source code, look somewhere else (after reading the NR).
