I did NOT suggest that B-S is better or worse than R-K. What I said is that in
the majority of cases I have encountered B-S is inferior to a
predictor-corrector method.
Most problems involving ODEs in chemical engineering fall into one of the two
categories:
a. DAEs
b. DAEs + PDEs (the latter discretized by one method or another to DAEs as
well).
In all such cases it is VERY hard to beat Gear type methods (e.g. DDASPK).
Other than that I obviously agree 100% with the comments made by Van Snyder and
Phillip Helbig.
