IMO, the adverse experience reported in a subsequent posting must apply
to porting software from a machine with a larger default REAL precision,
such as the 36-, 48-, or 64- bit REAL's of the past. PC Fortrans should
produce more accuracy than you would see on the IBM-360 style base 16
floating point arithmetic. You can expect differences in calculated
results.
