Yes, it IS true that inheritance does NOT play as vital a role in
scientific computing, as opposed to, for example, the relationship between
types and classes. This is the reason why diagramming techniques such as
UML/OMT (which rely heavily on inheritance based relationships) have only
limited value in scientific computing (read F 90/95).
