Recently I asked, on this list, for a pointer to
"syntax diagrams" for Fortran 90. Several people kindly
directed me to locations on the internet which had a text
version of it in German. Although I did learn to read
German for a degree (rather ineptly at that), it was 35
years ago. I could have deciphered them, and did actually
down load them.
I have since come across a book, "Fortran 95 Handbook"
by Jeanne Adams, Walt Brainerd, et al, which contains the
syntax in English. It also has an alphabetically arranged
index into the syntax that helps a lot. The book is
published by MIT Press and is not inexpensive but it is an
excellent tool for Fortran programmers. I have been away
from Fortran in the Ada world for 15 years and I find this
book very valuable for a re-immersion into the language.
I have seen a similar title by the same authors for
Fortran-90, but the differences are not huge between the
versions and 95 is inevitable.
If you're in the market for a good reference, try it,
you'll like it.
