The Children's Television Network (CTN) produces Sesame Street in the
United States. CTN has conducted extensive research on children's
programming and community impact of educational programming for
children. Much of their research is published and there have been numerous
other studies on the impact of educational programming on young
children. Most of those studies are published in the ERIC database. The
US government also funded some research in this area in conjunction with
Head Start programs and with the 1990 Children's Television Act which for
the first time requires US broadcasters to air educational programming for
children.
