ASCALF Conference 2000
1-2 December at the French Institute, 17 Queensberry Place, London SW7
2DT, UK.

The 12th annual conference of the Association for the Study of 
Caribbean and African Literature in French will take place at the 
Institut français du Royaume-uni, 17 Queensberry Place, South 
Kensington, London, SW7 2DT on Friday-Saturday, 1-2 December 2000. The
theme is Returning the gaze: images of the other in Francophone 
cultures.  Visiting speakers should include the Senegalese novelist 
Boubacar Boris Diop, the Ivorian poet and novelist Véronique Tadjo,  
Professors Daniel Delas (Université de Cergy-Pontoise) and Vinesh 
Hookoomsing (University of Mauritius) and university researchers from 
Africa, Australia, France, Ireland, Mauritius, the USA, and the UK. 

Conference fee: £35 (full rate), £25 (members of ASCALF) and £15 (for 
students and unwaged). Special arrangements available for members of 
ASCALF accompanied by groups of students. Further information from Mme
