Announcing a new interactive interdisciplinary e-journal
for cultural and historical studies and creative work
Scholarly articles and creative work are invited NOW for
EnterText 1 Americas, Americans (submissions by 1 November 2000)
EnterText 2 Text to Screen | Screen to Text (by 1 February 2001)
EnterText 3 Open Issue (by 1 April 2001)
There are few forums where scholarly work in cultural studies, history and
the social sciences is given equal weight and where scholars can make
connections going beyond the traditional boundaries that most journals
sustain. EnterText will do what few paper journals do: bring together
scholarly writings in diverse disciplines, together with cross-disciplinary
and interdisciplinary pieces, usually on a themed topic. It will also,
unusually, include creative works. Its aim is to foster dialogue and enable
collaborations across traditional disciplinary boundaries. Integral to the
journal will be discussion and interaction, and a forum will be created for
posting comments and conducting debate on the issues raised in both the
scholarly and creative pieces in the journal. In specified sections
respondents will be able to enter their own text. It will therefore be a
site for continuing discourse.
EnterText will have five main sections:
* Refereed articles on topics in the arts, humanities and social
sciences, such as are found in traditional academic journals. It will also
publish interviews with writers, artists, and other key cultural figures.
* In association with these, there will be a forum for readers'
responses and discussion.
* It will publish creative writing, work in progress, and other kinds
of creative text, within the capabilities of the medium.
* It will post short reviews of interdisciplinary publications and
cultural events, as they happen.
* It will have a bulletin board for the listing of events and
publications, and the exchange of notes and queries.
EnterText will go online in December 2000, and will have three main issues
a year, of which two will be themed and one will feature works on any
subject within the journal's broad remit. The forum and bulletin board will
be open for contributions at all times. Access will be free.
