'COMPARING 'COLONIALISMS' IN THE CARIBBEAN IN THE 21ST CENTURY
AT
THE INSTITUTE OF COMMONWEALTH STUDIES
28 RUSSELL SQUARE
LONDON, WC1B 5DS
on
APRIL 6, 2000
The aim of the conference is to promote dialogue between academics,
policy-makers and parties interested in the Caribbean overseas territories.
The key questions to be addressed include:
* In what ways have the relationships between countries and their
overseas territories differed in the past and in what ways has that impacted
on possible future developments?
* In what directions are relationships moving in the 21st Century, if
they differ and how?
* What lessons can be learnt from the different experiences of
country's relationships with their overseas territories?
* How do the overseas territories view the relationships and how do
they see the future?
* What is the meaning of 'independence' within the context of the
discussion between metropolitan countries and their overseas territories and
how does it differ within the Caribbean region?
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PRESENTING A PAPER PLEASE CONTACT ME AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE - AT THE LATEST BY MARCH 6.
Thanks
