Greetings:
Would love to see responses to Joe Clarke's query. We, Jamaicans in
Barbados, wanted to have a tea meeting as part of Independence celebrations
last month but couldn't get enough info except for same "Banana Bottom".
There's a mention at this page:
http://jamaicans.com/www/www/culture/christma.htm talking about old time
Christmas.
Growing up in Vineyard Town, Kingston, I remember going with my grandparents
to similar events organised by party (political) groups or branches ...
can't remember which - JLP, was branch and PNP group, I think - and my grand
parents supported both :-)
Mark Lee.

Subject: a claude Mckay question
Greetings all:
In McKay's Banana Bottom, "tea parties" figure prominently. They are not as
genteel as the name suggests but rather seem to be a kind of "fete" put on
by
peasant rural communities. My parents are far old to remember their local
equivalents. Does anyone out there have more useful information or info on
resources on these "tea parties."
Thanks
Joe Clarke
